Small businesses such as ourselves must rely on people that can perform a wide variety of tasks. While someone may have a primary job they may also need to know how to do other things to be able to help out when there is a need elsewhere.
Fulfillment, Shipping, & Returns Processing
This job involves processing customer orders, returns, and exchanges. Customers must be contacted via e-mail or telephone to confirm shipping & billing information in some instances.
Skills Needed – Though not difficult, there are many steps in these processes that require a high attention to detail. Accuracy is extremely important. It is also very important to be friendly in dealing with customers.
Product Catalog Management
This job involves using a digital camera to take pictures of items and then using Adobe Photoshop to edit those pictures to be uploaded to the web site. New products are then added to the on-line catalog and placed on the website.
Skills Needed – Editing pictures is a tedious process that requires patience. An attention to detail is important. A basic knowledge of how to use Photoshop or other photo editing software is helpful.
Receiving & Stocking
This job involves getting products ready to sell. As merchandise arrives it must be unpacked, tagged, and scanned into inventory. It then must be taken to the appropriate department our stockroom so that it can be sold.
Skills Needed – Though not a difficult job, accuracy is very important. It is necessary to make sure that all inventory is being properly processed. The lifting of some heavy boxes is also required.
